RT on September 18 reported, the video recording thousands of crocodiles crawling ashore to bask in the sun in the Pantanal has attracted millions of views and caused many false rumors on social networks. Reporters of Newsweek (American magazine) went to the field to investigate and confirm that these crocodiles appeared in "peacetime".

The video, which has been viewed more than 10.3 million times, shows thousands of caiman crocodiles flooding the riverbanks of the Pantanal swamps and lying motionless. This is how the crocodile warms up after a long time swimming in the water.

“I think there are only a few crocodiles in this river. But oh my god, I have never seen so many crocodiles in my life," wrote Instagram account Pantanal Pesca, the owner of a video of crocodiles crawling ashore in the Pantanal.

Some social media users speculate that this is an "invasion" of crocodiles or crocodiles flooding the shore to reclaim territory that is being encroached on by humans. Some even say that the abundance of crocodiles is a harbinger of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. These false rumors make the locals uneasy.

According to Newsweek, the Pantanal Swamp is the natural home of crocodiles. This is also the place with the largest concentration of crocodiles in the world with about 10 million caiman crocodiles. There are about 206,000 people living in this area.

Newsweek confirmed that the crocodiles only gathered to bask in the sun and did not intend to invade the living area.
